I'm Blown Away: The Kentucky Derby. Wow!

I just had the most fascinating evening. I watched the 142nd running of the Kentucky Derby festivities from 4PM until 7:30PM and loved every minute of it.
First of all, one reason that I have always been fascinated by horse racing is that my uncle used to raise horses and my father used to take me and my siblings to horse races in West Virginia. I used that information to background my novel that I just had published about six months ago. You can find it on lulu.com under my name.
The 99th running of the Kentucky Derby was won by Secretariat, who is mentioned in my novel, since he was trained about 30 miles from where I lived. I have visited the farm where he was raised. He won the Triple Crown, beating his nearest opponent by and amazing 31 lengths in the Belmont Stakes. Also, the movie “Secretariat” was on tonight and I watched it for the second time. What a GREAT movie. What a GREAT evening for me. I really enjoyed it.
The winner today was Nyquist, the favorite to win. I figured he would win, but I chose Exaggerator to win. He came in in second place. There was a rain storm at Churchill Downs today, just shortly before the race began. I’m sure it affected the course, even though the rain had stopped before the race began.
I thought that maybe Whitmore, ridden by Victor Espinosa, who won the Triple Crown last year, might have a good chance to win, but he came in next to last place.
I did pick two of the three who came in first, second and third place. Gun Runner was a 10-1 odds and Exaggerator 5-1 odds.
The race only lasts a couple minutes but it was very exciting. The next step in the Triple Crown will be at the Preakness at Pimlico, followed by the Belmont Stakes.
Many people think that the winner today, Nyquist, can be another Triple Crown winner, but that would be two years in a row for a Triple Crown win.
Not very likely, but it is possible.
Did anyone watch the Kentucky Derby?
Can you tell, I’m still very excited. I love horse racing.

I knew that there was something that I was missing yesterday and couldn't figure out what it was until late at night when I sat down to watch the news. I'm surprised that my three friends who have horse farms never mentioned anything about it because I had actually wanted to watch. Oh, well! There is always the other two.

There are probably reruns of it on the news. Yes, I want to get the dates for the Preakness and the Belmont Stakes and make sure I don't miss them.

@Chellezhere The Preakness is May 21st and The Belmont Stakes is June 11th. I wrote them on my calendar.

@IreneVincent One of my biggest problems is that I take calls for a television service provider, and the other is that I have low vision. So, when I am off the clock, I tend to not watch TV, and that leads me to forget that something that I actually want to watch is coming on.

Yes, Nyquist, the winner of the Kentucky Derby was unbeaten in all eight races that he has ran so far. There should be a lot of reruns on the race. As I said, the race only lasts about two minutes so the news channels will probably be replaying the race, if you should want to see it.
