Found $20 in my back yard. Is it yours?

Today is Mothers Day so my family went out to have lunch. I didn't want to go.
Anyway I walked out the back to stand in the sun cause I'm freezing cold, and I see a dirty $20 note on the ground. I was thinking, well since it's dirty, it must have been dropped awhile ago and not this morning. Or maybe it blew here from somewhere else because it was extremely windy last night. But I thought I would ask about it anyway.
So I text my Aunty asking her to ask my dad and brother if they dropped money. ( they didn't have their phones so I couldn't text them ).
She kept joking saying it was hers and then apparently my cousin was saying it was his. I'm not in the mood to play around today but I just asked her again to ask dad and my brother.
She texted back and said my dad said yes. I started to get annoyed because I know he was joking around. I kept my cool and asked "How much did he drop?" The text came back and said "$50."
So I just said "ok not his then, it's mine. It was actually $20."
A text came back and said "Well dad said you can give it to him to pay off some of what you owe him."
I've literally had this talk with my family a few times including last night, that I don't like this "Me owing money" being brought up and being a joke! I borrowed a big amount of money from dad to go to a beauty course that I also dropped out on. So every time I hear "jokes" about the money I owe, it not only makes me worry about how I am going to get this money, but also how much I failed at completing my course. But nope, let's still make fun of her about it. Although their intentions aren't really to bring me down but if I have asked for them to not do it cause it makes me stress, why do they still do it? It's annoying! I pay little amounts when I can. Dad said there is no rush but I know I will feel better once I am debt free.
So you know what, they took too long to give me a straight answer and "joking" around. So this 20 bucks is mine! Finders keepers!

@VivaLaDani13 Do you know how much it would cost to get a round-trip airline ticket? That's going to be your biggest expense I imagine.

@moffittjc I have no clue actually. I'm sure way more than I can afford right now.

Happy Mothers Day to yours
There's no way that money could be mine... the day we get an East wind is very rare indeed & it'd have to fight with the Roaring Forties!
Let them all wait until you get a steady full time job & pay it back bit by bit, but given the unemployment rate now, a little "debt forgiveness" should be in order.
Let us know how you spend it

wow I haven't seen you around in a long time.
lol yeah I just ended up keeping it anyway. Once I do get a job then I can pay back some big chunks of what I owe.

It sure was awesome to find money outside though. I went out again to see if there was more lol
I agree. I know family can get on each others nerves etc but sometimes I feel as if I get picked on a bit too much. Maybe because I am the baby and don't get taken seriously. I know they love / care for me but sometimes their words and actions can be too much for me to handle.

Keep the money. Have a treat or something.
Okay that is out of context. So, you "borrowed" money for studies?

@Daljinder I sure am going to keep it.
And yeah. I see you altered your answer. I think it's cool that parents are to help out their children with studies. I guess it's whatever the parent decides here. I told dad that I'd prefer to pay him back once I got a job from completing my course but....since things didn't work out, I'm having no luck with paying him back the whole amount in one hit.
I prefer to pay him back. I don't like things handed to me. It doesn't sit easy with me. Sara has paid her own way too.
But Beckie.....oh no ok I wont go down that road.
....*murmurs* Friggen princess.

@Daljinder lol I saw it. And hell no. That friggen princess would never apply to you! Beckie yes. You, no way!
If you were mean to me and constantly telling me that things just fall i your lap like Beckie does then yes, I admit I would feel like you were throwing it in my face. But I actually like you and think you're nice and I know you wouldn't mean it like that.
I think it's a good idea anyway. It helps them to start their lives and get a good start.

You caught me!
I thought maybe it would seem like I am throwing it in your face that I had mine pay it without having to / needing to pay it back or even that I would seem like what you just murmured "friggen princess"
Yup so I just edited it.
Here it doesn't sit easy with parents if they don't pay for their kids education. It's seen as their shortcoming. They are responsible for kids their whole life whether they are earning or not and the trend continues down the generation.
