It was a beautiful rose gold and gold ring, with magnificent rubies and diamonds. It was my Mother's Day gift from my husband.
He's on the way back to the store to return it.
Why, you may wonder? I don't need it. I have more than enough jewelry, including a ruby and diamond ring which he bought for me years ago. He forgot about that one.
Of course I thanked him for it and for the humorous card he gave me.
I'm happy enough with just him. The flowers in the photo are from my wonderful older son and his wife. They each texted me from France. My younger son's fiancé texted me from Washington DC expressing her love for me. My younger son is treating me and my husband to a fancy dinner tonight.
That's enough love for me.
I hope those of you who celebrate will have a wonderful Mother's Day, just like me!

I didn't receive any present today except for a kiss and that was enough to make my day extra special.

Your flowers are beautiful. It was sweet of your hubby to remember you with a new ring. You've obviously got lots of rings that you don't wear on a regular basis either, so do I. Rubies are among my favorite because they are my birthstone. I'm glad that you're having time with your younger son this evening, one-on-one is so decadent. We had that this morning with our son and my heart is so very happy as a result. Now this afternoon my hubs and I are enjoying some quiet time together. The perfect day!
Enjoy the rest of it!

@DianneN I know, and so do we. I was thankful to have a few hours alone with Jonathon, not that I dislike Klaudia, but it was like very old days, just the 3 of us. We had a nice brunch out together and he gave me a sappy card and a nice bunch of pink carnations.

@Juliaacv Would you believe my DIL actually texted me to wish me a happy and wonderful MD? My son's fiancé texted me from Washington to tell me how much she loves me. That, and phone calls from my younger son, whom I will see in less than 4 hours, also called, as did my brother! It warmed my heart. My hubby won't allow me to lift a finger. I feel so much better than I did last year. Enjoy the rest of our extra special day. Btw, my DIL and son also included a small box of chocolates, which are in the photo. My hubby won't open them until I do. I know he's drooling for them.

@DianneN I know where you are coming from. You get to a certain point in life and materially you just do not need anything apart from everyone to be happy and healthy. That is a good quality to have Dianne and gift enough!

We really don't need more jewelry as we get older. I still have way too much. I need to find a place to sell it. I'm not going to use eBay. It's too much like work for me, but going to a jeweler who buys it is on my to do list.
Happy times when everyone calls or texts. Not all of us have children who are this thoughtful. Enjoy.

@DianneN That's great. I already gave any jewelry I thought they would like to family members based on their preferences. I'm down to items that are too fabulous for my relatives or friends, so off to the store to sell it.

He understood. I've been telling him for years that I don't need jewelry. I did tell him that I will be shopping like a wild woman in Chicago with the money he spent on that ring. He laughed. After all these years, he knows me very well.

That was nice of your husband to buy the ring for you, but no point in keeping if you don't need it. You can only wear so many rings, right?
Beautiful flowers and hope you enjoyed your dinner with your younger son.

You are right. The precious moments you spend with your loved ones are way more important than some precious jewellery. Hope more people understood that!
