Don´t bother about the tablecloth!

The first thing I say to first time visitors to my house is not to bother with staining the tablecloth. Any sort of stain will come out in a jiffy with a little detergent and some water. And later on, you just hang it without much care in the sun and it will be dry in a short while. No need to iron it either. My tablecloth (and all the ones I have has for maybe the last 20 years) were brought from Mexico. They are made with a natural fiber they take from a succulent called agave. There are many kinds of agaves and one of them is used to make tequila. But in this case they use the fiber and turn it into the most incredible cloths you can imagine. My tablecloth has the aztec sun knit with such threads. I hope that the picture I took years ago with my grandson at the table can show it. Come and visit, friends. We can spill some tomato sauce or a bit of red wine. Not to worry! Even a child can wash it.

Easy! Go to Mexico! And you will find a lot of awesome things besides a tablecloth. BTW, I think the newest one is my 6th. All with the same sun.

I have not had great luck with tablecloths. Most of them are made of cotton and although quite durable, they stain easily. I have never heard of agave fibers used to make cloth. One learns something new everyday.

I always have a tablecloth on. Under that there is a thick cover.

My house isn't every kid-friendly. Too much delicate stereo gear around.
