Give me my Receipt

Philippines

I inserted my ballot in the machine and it didn't come out. The facilitator told me to just write my name in the notebook and I was the first case of a ballot that didn't come out. But when I looked at the notebook, there are already seven names written in it. I asked the cases of those people and the facilitator told me not to mind it. So I told them that I'm not leaving until a receipt comes out. They told me that they will handle it themselves and convinced me that the vote will be casted later. They told me that the machine is not working and they still have to call the technical assistant. They told me that it will take a long time to fix the machine so I'd better write my name. I refused and told them that I'm going to wait. I also asked them how will other people vote if the machine is not working. So the facilitator pressed the button without calling any technical assistant. My ballot then went out and a receipt was printed. Why do they have to do this? I was annoyed enough because it's 41 degrees and there are a lot of people.

oh, that's strange , you did the right thing.. make them look for ways for the vcm to read your ballot and let out a receipt.. why do they have to tell you you're the first one to have that kind of problem when there are already seven in the list..? then when you refused to leave they're forced to press it again.. so why didn't they do it to others

And while I was waiting, they keep telling me to write my name because they told me that my ballot will not come out anyway.

That seriously sounds like an attempt to falsify the voting! Here in England, voting is still done with actual crosses on real pieces of paper which are collected and counted by hand! That just shows how much our electoral system trusts technology.

Wow that's really terrible. My cousin experienced the same thing, no receipt came out and she was told the machine ran out of thermal paper. So they waited for the thermal paper and when a new one came, still no receipt was printed out. She was told by the BEI that they weren't taught on how to fix that.
