Who Will Be Our Next President?

May 9, 2016, another milestone in the Philippine history is taking place as people line up to cast their votes on who will lead the country in the next 6 years. As of this writing, the voting polls are probably closed in most areas in the country and candidates,as well as the majority of the Filipinos, are waiting in anticipation for the result. Will it be The one endorsed by the present administration, a former senator and cabinet member whose performance rating is not very good? Will it be the Vice President who is currently facing graft and corruption allegations and has not yet offered explanations to clear his name? Will it be the young woman senator who, according to some people are far too inexperienced to lead the country? Will it be the mayor from the south who promised to abolish all forms of criminality in the country within six months, he is allegedly responsible for the execution of criminals in the city he governs. Or will it be the feisty woman senator whose records are clean but is currently undergoing treatment for her stage 4 lung cancer? Whoever wins, I hope that he or she will put the country's welfare first before his own. And may he/ she manage to improve the economy thus raising the standard of living of most Filipinos who have been struggling against poverty for a long time.
