FitBits

I have decided that I needed to get fitter and while do go to the gym occasionally, I could do more. I decided to buy a FitBit to see if that would help motivate me but while it's helpful to see how many steps I'm walking, it seems quite overgenerous and counts steps every time my arm moves. I have changed it so that it reads as though I'm using it on my dominant arm and I'm certainly getting fewer steps, but to be honest, I am moving more than I thought I was and it does seem to work as a motivator. Just hope I don't get bored after a few weeks!

I have one, but lost the instructions and do not know how to even set it up. I think my husband threw the instructions away with the box. Oh well!

I like mine and I have a general idea of how many steps I take per day so it's interesting to me to see the fluctuation. I probably swing my arms about the same every day too so I can live with the count. On days that I am on the move (like a day at Disney World) I carry my phone all day as well and my phone counts my steps along with the fitbit. They usually match pretty closely and it doesn't count arm movements as it's in a pocket.

I have a fitbit and honestly I do not care about if my step count is not exactly right, as long as it is not exactly right everyday. If I do better than yesterday, I am happy. The number of steps I only use it to compare to the next day. That does not mean it is right, but having it for 3 years, it works out well. I have a co-worker that stated she wants to get accurate counts and she wears it on her ankle. I do not know how accurate that is, but at least your not getting steps if you swing your arms around.
