How to nurture rose plants in house?

It is easy to nurture a herb or shrub in a garden. It is that difficult to do it in a clay tub or pot in a verandah of the a house.
The reason is the area required by the roots in the soil is not found in plants in pots. In case of rose the question is how much water is required per day?
Rose plants also require some fertilizer which are available in the market. I have rose plants in my balcony in clay pots. In winter it was fine. In summer they are getting more sunlight than required.
Do rose plants require stem-cutting for fresh growth?

we have variagated rose plant and we really love seeing the flowers.

@sathviksouvik actually I don't know how to propagate roses, my wife does. I just love seeing the flowers
