Is God a Man or a Woman?

I wonder who is really God. If we are made at his image and likeness, then he must be similar to us in essence, but what gender is God; is he a male or a female. In the scriptures we have read that Jesus, who was a man, had a terrestrial father and mother, and that his heavenly father, as well as our own heavenly father is God. Did Jesus had a heavenly mother or just a terrestrial mother? If there is a heavenly mother, who is she?

I don't think so that there is any concept like male and female. When a person finds oneself..there he becomes god in his pure existence.God should be addressed by "thy".God is said to be a lot of traits of woman but still addressed as he,perhaps because of man dominated society.

Yes, since man has dominated in almost every aspect in life, God must have to be addressed as a man.

@mavlana I´m not nourishing my ego. I don´t mind if God were addressed as a woman, as long as she is wiser being.

Yes, there are many questions which our intuition cannot answer. The truth is that we are the creations of God.

Gender is a parameter of this physical world. Since God is a Spiritual Being, God has no gender. We are all spiritual beings in our true natures. We have no gender either until we are placed in a physical body.

That makes sense. Gender is an earthly thing. It´s like after we are put here we acquire the men women characteristics.

When we speak of God in terms of male language, we are not doing so literally, but in terms of relating human speech to the Divine, using human terms to understand God-the common Biblical terms for God, are masculine in gender (in Hebrew all nouns are either masculine or fem.), but the Church Fathers said the Genesis of the Son of God is not to be understood as carnal procreation, but rather as an act of Divine will where the divine essence is not seperated (akin to how a flame of fire is spread from one piece of wood to another, and the original flame is not deminished). So in those terms, no, we do not speak in terms of a "heavenly mother" in regards to the Genesis of the Son, but we speak of the Father as the fountain of Divinity, and the Son always existed with Him as His Divine Wisdom (the New Testament calls this, "the Logos") "through whom all things were made", the Apostle John writes.

Yes, in the scriptures we read that God and his son Jesus are one and only one. They don´t mention a mother or a wife of God. I guess, this is an earthly thought of us humans.
