Are Children Of Nowadays Born Weak?

Whatever changed between us--- time when we were still small children--- and the current children, seems to have put a major difference these two generations. Those days, we would play in rain, spend hours in cold water and do crazy stuff in cold weathers but still we survived without someone seeing a doctor. However, things has changed nowadays... cold water and cold weather is an enemy to children of today. If a parent is not careful with cold water, then his or her child will remain a regular visitor to hospitals for illnesses associated with cold environment. What really changed? We live in the same environment in different times. Same water and almost everything we had are here for these new generation. But why this weakness? Oops! This has nothing to do with Extreme Cold weather...

I thinck world evolved...so the game's aren't the same when we play with balls, palleta or other games which playd outside with other children. Now they play on the pc...they don't have the activity in nature that we have. The food isn't the same, the poluation and other stuf...made them week.

@waflay i thinck the other species evolve much easier. They adapt easier or we don't really know how hard they are affected.

It is not that today's children are weak. The problem is that if parents let them do anything fun, they will be charged with neglect. Parents have been charged for letting their kids play outside.

There is only one rule about parenting, 'protect the child from danger or else suffer the consequences.' But it seems that the more we hide our kids from cold, playing in cold water and other stuff, the more we are weakening their defensive body mechanisms. I guess I am wrong on this.. but have your say!

@waflay I did all kinds of things when I was a kid. People did not worry about it then. My kids did a lot of stuff too. But now, the busybodies watch every little thing about kids until the parents are scared to let them do anything.

I am from india so there is no extreme cold weather here in most of the parts. But i am seeing same changes in current generation ie kids who are 5-10 year old. they do not have the same energy we had. Most of them prefer to play computer games or mobile games instead of cricket football One day in sun and bam next day they need to see doc. Its like suddenly they have become delicate.

Exactly! I have nothing more to add on that because I was there and I know all those games of those day. Thanks...

You may have survived, but not everyone did. More people survive now because people are more cautious. It isn't weakness, it is survival of the species. People were far more violent and 'tougher' in the middle ages, but that doesn't mean it was right. Many things people endured hundreds of years ago would be considered barbaric.

Yep! That is right, the barbaric point of view and cautious way of life just brought something to my attention. I used to watch survival tv show those days (kids survival) and I was amazed how they easily put up with whatever that came there way. But nowadays, the same shows are more dangerous to all parties involved. Do you believe that 'toughness' is lacking in this new generation?

It's hard to say from country to country, but here in the States, it seems to be due to Media hype and propaganda.
