Banana Cake Waiting To Come Out Of The Oven

I just made another banana cake and now it is in the oven baking away. I will not taste it today, as it has to sit for a while before all the flavors mingle. Once it has cooled off, I will wrap the whole banana bread in aluminium foil and store it in the fridge until tomorrow. Then I will slice the bread and wrap each slices individually and store them in our big freezer. Whenever we want to eat one, we just put it in the microwave a few seconds and then it is ready.

You remind me I think we have about 3 nearly black bananas that need to turned into bread! But usually we cannot wait to let it sit - it's all gone by the end of the day (if not hour! ). Enjoy your banana bread!

@marlina I'm sure it's better "aged" - we just have no will power!

I think you are talking about what we call banana bread and it is good right out of the oven also. It is delicious cold or warm.

@marlina My sister used brown bananas (not fresh ones) and that helped I think.

@CRK109 I wish I knew, it just happened years ago. I rarely smell something, if I do, it is only for a few seconds. I am sure it has helped me to shed a few pounds too.

Unfortunately, I can't tell you if it smells good in the kitchen as my sense of smell is kind of useless.

@marlina can I ask how your lost your sense of smell? I think that without a sense of smell, I'd probably be a lot thinner! lol

My husband and sons love banana bread, I'm not a huge fan but will make it for them. A really good idea of freezing individual slices.

By freezing the banana bread by slices, it is a lot easier to just get one piece when we feel like it.

@marlina My hubby and son can eat a whole loaf in like two days, so the only way I would do that is if I made two and I guess that's what I'm going to do. Love the freeze by slice idea.

I once worked in Whitby, England in a hostel. One day someone delivered heaps and heaps of bananas so we made banana cake. It was a hard job but oh so worth it when we sat down to eat the bread.
