What Were The Five "Civilized" Tribes?

American Tribal People have a long history of mistreatment in America.
The number of tribes are many and diverse. I have done a lot of research on them and have even visited the Lakota Sioux Reservation in South Dakota.
What were called the FIVE “civilized” tribes were: Cherokees, Creeks, Choctaws, Chickasaws and Seminoles. However, the facts show that many other tribes were quite civilized and organized.
I am hoping to share some of my research on myLot in the coming weeks. I found all my research notes and will be putting together a few articles for those who care to read them.
My mother had at least one ancestor who was what is called NATIVE American, which means that I also have that same ancestor. I am doing some research on her family line and perhaps I will discover the name of that person. I hope that I can.
Do you have ancestors from any tribal people?

I have no ancestors among the First Inhabitants of North America that I know of. I do not favor the term NATIVE American as there is no race of human that is native to this continent. I feel the correct way to refer to those who migrated here from Asia long before the Europeans arrived is as First Inhabitants.

I agree with you wholeheartedly about them being "called" NATIVE American, but unfortunately that is the "politically" correct term, or so I've been told. First Inhabitants would be a PERFECT way to describe them. I wrote an entire article on this subject some time ago. I posted it on the Bubblews site, but I don't think I posted it here.
You are correct in saying that there is no race of human that is native to this continent. They migrated, just as you said. That's why I said: "what is called NATIVE American."

@IreneVincent When I read your post that is the inference I took from the way you wrote that part of the sentence. My memory isn't what it used to be, but I think we actually shared about this on Bubblews at the time you posted your article there.

@DWDavis I knew that several people on Bubblews agreed with me. Like you, my memory fails me sometimes. LOL

@polyxena I've thought about having the DNA test also. It costs about $100, I think. It might be interesting, but on the other hand, it's not that important to me. I'm satisfied with being what I call "Heinz 57 variety." I have a little bit of this and a little bit of that from so many different sources, I really don't see how I could be categorized.

@IreneVincent Same here. It's just that I don't know handing over $100, to answer where I came from doesn't sound too nice but at the same time. If I knew where I came from I don't know if I'd be happy.

@IreneVincent I've tried using ancestry, but my dad's side is really strange, I know a little bit i.e. that my great great grandma was a gypsy, but other than that I can't find ANYTHING. I have no clue about my origins. If had the money I'd fork out a DNA test like but I don't know how well it'd work out.

I'm not sure, but I don't think I do. Recently I've been interested in the Mountain Crow, as Chief Plenty Coups did his visions quests in the Crazy Mountains of Montana, where I've hiked a couple of times. I drive by the Crazies almost every Summer on my way to our family cabin in Montana.

You should write an article about the Crazy Mountains. It sounds very interesting.

@TheHorse Yes, you should. I don't remember reading about it on the B site, but there was a lot to read.

@IreneVincent I think I did on "that other site." Maybe I will here as well!
