Day 53 Psalm 53 Psalm 53:1 < The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that does good. 2 God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God. 3 Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is none that does good, no, not one. 4 Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge? Who eat up my people as they eat bread: they have not called upon God. 5 There were they in great fear, where no fear was: for God hath scattered the bones of him that encamps against thee: thou hast put them to shame, because God hath despised them. 6 Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! When God brings back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad. What causes a person to be worthy of hell fire? Without much thought we would automatically say anyone who hasn’t accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord is worthy of Hell, and so were we all before we accepted Jesus. However, David was not looking at God’s chosen people, but at the nations around him, Israel’s enemies, who were bent on destroying Israel and who trusted in idols and false gods. David referred to them as fools. They were fools because they didn’t believe in God nor did they think anyone could save Israel from their hands, so they marched against and made war with Israel to prove God was not with them, only to find out, God fought for Israel in every instance. Therefore, David said, the fool hath said in his heart there is no God. Paul also said the same thing David did. Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: 11 There is none that understands, there is none that seeks after God. 12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that does good, no, not one. Not only did David consider any nation who fought against God as foolish, but Paul also said that no one sought God, no one as in everyone, not just a select few people. Before we accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord, we were in this category of fools. We were all on our way to Hell. None of us deserved eternal life, and none of us still do. It is only through the acknowledgment and acceptance of Jesus and his finished work on the cross that makes us worthy of eternal life, nothing else. What is your position regarding the cross and Jesus Christ? Have you accepted Jesus as your personal Savior and Lord? Jesus said we must be born again to enter eternal life. It was a requirement of salvation. John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. (KJV) David saw fools who tried to fight against God. Paul saw fools who had not acknowledged Jesus as Savior and Lord, and Jesus said everyone must be born again to enter heaven. Where do you stand? Let’s pray: Father, thank you for providing a Savior, your Son, Jesus. Help me to acknowledge him as Savior and Lord of my life, so I do not look like a fool in your eyes. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. Copyright © 11 May 2016 by Valerie Jean Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay

From my own experience, I can only say, one day I just accepted. I went to a religious school and was surrounded by Christian. All the teachings I had received was in one ear out the other. It was like water off the duck's back. I listened, but never heard. To quote from Godfather III Look at this stone. It has been in the water for a very long time, but the water has not penetrated it. Look... Perfectly dry. The same thing has happened to men in Europe. For centuries they have been surrounded by Christianity, but Christ has not penetrated. Christ doesn't live within them. I was the stone. One day, it all changed. That day onwards, I accept Christ as the Messiah. I do not know how, or why, I just know it happened.

If Jesus had not come to earth, people should be struggling harder to find the real meaning of life. There is no other person whom all people depend from in the hardest situations than him. I still need to work my way towards him.

By His own claim "I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father but by me", that is something many shy away from, and yet if we take Jesus as Lord seriously, we must take it as His statement, and that statement must be proclaimed, that also being part of His commandment.
