As with Scott (@teamfreak16 ) I'm counting down my ten most memorable double bills or opening acts. Up next is one of my most memorable concerts ever. #7: Bruce Cockburn Bruce Cockburn (pronounced CO-burn, like James Coburn) is one of those great national treasures from our neighbors to the north. He's been awarded the Order of Canada for his long career as a human rights conscious folk/rock singer. And, on May 17, 1980, he was a long way from Canada. In Orlando, Florida, to be exact. Opening for Warren Zevon. (Eat your heart out. [And I do have a better double bill for Zevon coming up!]) On the heels of his sole top 40 hit, "Wonderin' Where the Lions Are" (with its subtle references to his Christian faith [think Daniel in the lions' den]), Cockburn secured the opening gig for Zevon about a month after my very first Zevon concert. Oh, was it magical. After the show I met them both. Cockburn was a gracious gentleman (so was Zevon) in person after he'd knocked my socks off in concert. We've lost Zevon but we still have Bruce Cockburn. He's to be treasured, because he writes great songs. The legendary Canadian singer-songwriter Bruce Cockburn came by the KXT studio for a chat and performance prior to his Kessler show.

Not familiar with him nor the song. He wasn't on 80s new wave radio! He should double bill with Gordon Lightfoot.

That's one song. His mid-80s MTV song "If I Had a Rocket Launcher" was just a little more edgy than "Wonderin' Where the Lions Are."

It seems like he would be a perfect opener for Zevon. I haven't heard this song in years.
