Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports the news that the Miami Marlins have designated for assignment left handed relief pitcher Craig Breslow on Wednesday.
Breslow signed a minor league contract with the Miami Marlins on February 12, 2012 after he finished his pitching with the Boston Red Sox at the end of the 2015 baseball season.
Breslow had a pitching record of zero wins and two losses with an earned run average of 4.50 during the 2016 baseball season.
It remains to be seen if any team in the Major Leagues would be interested in signing Breslow who is 35 years of age to pitch for the team as a left handed relief pitching specialist.
Breslow will be replaced on the Miami Marlins roster by right handed relief pitcher Dustin McGowan who was designated for assignment by the Marlins on April 17, 2016 before he was demoted to pitch for the New Orleans Zephyrs which is the AAA minor league team of the Marlins.
McGowan, 34, had signed a minor league contract with the Marlins on December 10, 2015 after he pitched for the Philadelphia Phillies in 2015.

I would guess someone in need of pitching will take a chance on a lefty at a cheap price. 4.50 era isn't as awful as some I have seen.

A left handed relief pitcher is a luxury in the Major Leagues.
