Usually the prenuptial agreement is a method for the rich spouse to protect his/her property before getting married. Of course it has its pros and cons. I think somewhat it will be hurtful for your spouser to sign this since it means you don't really trust him/her.

I think it is very fair to the rest of the family as well. If a rich guy is rich because he is born into the rich family, the family does not want his future wife to inherit all the money that comes from family trust or inheritance. it is only fair that assets build up after the marriage are split among the two of them if they end up in divorce.

If a rich old man marries to a young lady, then it is hard to say it is fair because such an old man can have an affair easily because he is so rich. So it is not fair for her, too.

@youless The young lady is all right since she will still be richer than before her marriage. Anyway, it is questionable why a young lady wants to marry a rich old man if not for his money.

For me it's not only trust, I would think he doesn't love me. I will be happy to share what I have to someone I love no matter what. That is to prove that I really love him. But, because it is hard to find a right guy nowadays I guess I will hide or put my other accounts and properties under my niece/nephews names before getting married than go for prenup.
