The following information came to me in the form of an author's newsletter. I immediately found her Facebook page and shared the post that told this story, and then went to Twitter and did the same thing. Here is what Dani Collins is doing: Fort McMurray is a town in Northern Alberta, Canada (above Montana) that services the oil fields. Workers from across Canada come and go through Fort McMurray and many have made their home there, leaving their families for days or weeks at a time while they 'work away.' Last week, wildfire overcame the town. Eighty thousand people were evacuated on the single highway on an hour's notice, many forced north into the oil camps (two babies were born there, as expectant mothers sought refuge!) Others evacuated south only to be evacuated again a few days later, when that town was threatened. This massive fire is over two thousand square kilometres (1240 miles). It has reduced neighbourhoods to ash and it will be weeks before people who still have homes will be allowed back to assess and restart their lives. Many are living in shelters and may have nothing to return to. Dani Collins has written a novel called "Scorched" about a firefighter in Montana. The author is Canadian but she was asked to participate in a group of authors publishing books about "smokejumpers in Montana". It is fitting that she has used this book to raise funds for the Fort McMurray fire victims. Proceeds for pre-orders of Scorched will go towards the Red Cross Alberta Fires Appeal. If you want to support this cause and perhaps like romance novels, place your pre-order now on iBooks, and Amazon US, Canada, and UK. I don't normally PURCHASE romance novels (I win them), but I will be ordering this one. I don't mind a good romance once in awhile, and it's for a good cause.

@petatonicsca @CRK109 Unfortunately, I tried to pre-order the print copy and it wasn't available. Only the Kindle copy was available. I have been in touch with the author and she is going to check with the publisher on this possible glitch.

@patgalca That would be good for me because living in Japan I tend to order Kindle books since I don't have to pay for shipping, which is usually as much as the book.

What a wonderful thing to do. Those people are going to need so much going forward.
