Want to help me decorate my kitchen?

I just finished putting a tan trim around the room and I'm getting ready to paint the walls white. It has a new floor, and I just bought a bar hutch so I can put stools at the bar for anyone to sit at and eat a quick bite.
I picked up some small painted images that are black and white. One with a cup on a diner table, a street view, and another diner image. The counter has a new black top and now the old back piece behind my sink has to get something done to it, it's horribly old.
So, I need ideas for that back piece. I want my kitchen to feel like a diner so I've removed any clutter. I want it to feel bright, open and busy. Any thoughts?
It's a work in progress. lol

Diners seem to always have red and white checks... kind of a Johnny Rocket look maybe ?? Have fun whichever way you go!

not sure without seeing it, but I think the area behind the sink needs tackled asap!

Yes, it's a very old building and I love it because it reminds me of my granny. We've painted the dining room, living room, started the bedrooms and we're finishing up the bathroom and kitchen now. A little at a time.
