Multimedia Devices to Kids

This generation kids are very obsessed with multimedia devices like Smart Phone, Tab and lap tops. Operating these devices is like a piece of cake for them. Do you think that we should limit the time kids are exposed to them? Few say that these generation kids should be up to date with the technology. I myself think that children who spend more time with these devices will not have much time to play outside, have enough physical activity or make new friends. This might have an impact on health and how they grow. Am I right? What do you say?

I do not allow my children any kind of games. I am thinking how ever to get them a tablet but once i give it to them we will tell them that they can use it for homework. But then after all homework is done they can have 45 min of a learning game but after that they are allowed to have maybe an hour of free play time on it. But they have to be in front of us. I am not for sure about the times but i do know that they will have to give us educational time as well as they get play time. I am thinking more educational then play though.

Yes,it is always good to limit the screen time to less than one hour per day so that they will have time to play outside.

I'm not sure. Probably won't be sure until they grow up. But by then, it'll be too late to backtrack. TV was supposed to be a bad thing too. Just like rock-n-roll music. It was going to corrupt the youth, rots their brains, and be the doorway to all kinds of wickedness. Anything can become detrimental to a person if they misuse, abuse or overuse it or use it for purposes other than intended. The digital and electronic devices are just inventions, made by man, to be used by man for work or for fun. Technology is ever changing. Humans are very intelligent beings. We invent a lot of stuff!! Don't resist it if it's a good thing and makes your life easier. Overkill of anything is not cool!

Yes, kids should be playing outside like we did as kids, otherwise they will be fat, out of shape and not very creative...always wantng something electronic to entertain them.

I have three kids ages 5,3.5 and 15 months. They don't have anything really at all. They are allowed to watch tv. They like my apple phone and want to play with it but I normally don't let them unless we are doing something and its the only thing I have to keep them entertained for a few minutes. My daughter has like a vtech tablet that she calles her ipad. It has a bunch of learning things on it so sits with it from time to time and plays learning games or draws on it. At there age they are all about playing outside with toys, running around. They are in tv games and stuff but we just don't let them play with it much.
