Images or No Images

I've had a couple of thoughts for posts to share here today, but have bypassed all of them because I don't have a suitable image to share with them. I know I can use sites like morguefile and pixabay, but sometimes I just get tired of going on a hunt for good images. Everything I've read about blogging has said that images are super important, because readers have short attention spans and cant focus on large blocks of text without pretty pictures to break it up. Is the same true here on Mylot? Are you more likely to click on a post if it has an image attached or not?

Images catch my attention before I even read the topic - so yes Images are very important

If you use a picture here it won't break up the text, so that's irrelevant. I do like a picture on a post, but it's never the reason that I will open a post.

Thats what they say, but it can be hard to find an image that says 1000 words that match what you are trying to write.

@nonersays This is, alas, true - a case of "good enough" needs to be applied, I think.

Oh yes, a photo or a picture is important. You can also check Wikimedia. I like going on a hunt for a good photo or picture.

I have not browsed wikimedia. Hunting for a good picture can be fun, but for me it is usually highly disappointing and makes me wish I were a better photographer.

@nonersays Looking at good photos helps you become a better photographer. Just ask yourself, "Why is this photo good? What is the difference between this photo and the ones I usually make?"

Maybe. I don't have a digital camera and hoped to someday.

I enjoy my digital camera. It is just a cheap point and shoot one. Now I just need some more intersting things to take photos of.

yes, it takes me quite a while browsing through pixabay to find a picture i like no, the picture is just one factor for me. there's also the title, the first few lines of the post, and the person writing it.

I think it is enticement. Most people have a pretty short attention span and you have to grab them while you can.
