Today's Into the Groovy (#55) makes a stop in Cleveland, where former power-pop band Raspberries formed in 1970. Raspberries were fronted by vocalist/bassist Eric Carmen, with lead guitarist Wally Bryson, guitarist Dave Smalley, and drummer Jim Bonfanti rounding out the band's classic lineup. The group is most known for their 1972 Gold Record single "Go all the Way," from their self-titled debut album. The song was a smash, reaching #5 on the Billboard Hot 100, and was a hit in Australia and Canada as well. Sadly, according to Wikipedia, "Go all the Way" was banned in England by the BBC (possible suggestive lyrics and the like.) "Go all the Way" might just be the greatest power-pop song ever recorded. It's certainly the first one I play whenever I go on a power-pop binge, which is what I'm about to do right now.

I remember them. i give them to my dogs all the time. They do not know what to make of them. What is really funny is my old male who was a big meany loved them. I guess it showed him he did not have to be so darn tough all the time. New generation. lol Seriously cool classic sound from that era, and always say will be the best era of music because people are to upright now.

Holy smokes, talk about a musical blast from high school! Eric Carmen went on to a solo career.

Yeah, for some reason he decided he wanted to be Barry Manilow.

It's very possible, although it was a pretty big hit.

Good to know that a lot of the music acts of the 1970s are still alive and performing their hit songs that we enjoyed that era.

They had a reunion in 2004 and toured in 2005, which would have been fun to see.
