I made a frame for my tomatoes.

I found some parts that were left over when I dismantled an old lawn swing that work perfectly to create a box type framework for my tomato plants in our backyard. The thing I need to do now is to drape the bird netting over it and secure it well using kite string. The thing with growing tomatoes in the garden in Dallas, is the birds and the squirrels attack them unless there is some kind of netting around them. The idea is to make sure the netting is raised well above the tops of the plants and not actually touching the tomatoes. The birds will still get at the tomatoes if the netting is not higher up than the plants themselves. The netting doesn't block sunlight or rain water from getting to the plants and I can easily open up one end come harvest time or to pull the weeds as needed around the ground. I use only regular soil mixed with some natural mulch and a few extra bags of Miracle Grow soil to get these hearty tomatoes to grow. Other than that my only other adversary would be the Texas Fire Ant. That might require I get hold of some amdro or maybe some Sevin dust.

tomatoes are easy to grown here, do they need a frame to keep they curbed? So you have recycled a lawn swing into a tomato garden. Clever

I don't know what I would do without two left over mop handles and some kite string. lol.

That is nice you constructed a tomato frame. We use to have a couple of metal tomato cages my uncle let us have. They were nice.

Sounds good. Metal cages are more durable, but then I would get these if I had storage space for them in the winter We here in the city have no place to store things. It's like we need two lots, one to live on and the other to store stuff. If I did I would have lots of tomato cages and a third lot just to grow them. lol.
