In the summer seasons in Kolkata, mangoes are very popular fruit for the bengalies. Himsagar mango is one of the popular mangoes. It was originated from Rajshahi in Bangladesh and grew in Malda, Murshidabad, Nadia and other districts of West Bengal. It has a special aroma and is sweet in taste. Mangoes are rich in Vitamin B, vitamin A, copper and potassium. Mangoes keep cholesterol in check, acts as a skin cleanser, regulates diabetes, helps in digestion. People should try himsagar mango at home.

Himshagor is a delight. During the season mangoes are a must everyday specially after dinner. My maternal grandfather sends himshagor for me every year. You should try "gopalbhog" too. I don't know about other districts but it's found in malda for sure.

@sathviksouvik most welcome. It's short lived but it'll be around soon. Waiting eagerly. As of now we're having lots of mango chutneys.
