How to console a friend who lost a job and is hunting for jobs for 4 months?

One of my friends who is very qualified lost his job 5 months back. It was due to the management decision of his office. He is a married person with child. Presently for 4 months he has enrolled in different job sites, but had not been successful to get a new job. I tell him, continue trying. It might take time, but he is going to get the job. Those who work in the private sector, for them, jobs are not permanent. But it is struggle, if a person having a family is the sole bread earner, and takes time to get a new job, once his old job had gone.
