If you don't count the mainstream guys like Phil Collins, synth-pop and hair metal ruled, music-wise, the 80's. Thus, it's time for a new series, my Top 10 Favorite 80's Synth-Pop Tunes. For #10, we'll head to London, where Visage formed in the late 1970's. Led by the late vocalist Steve Strange (1959 - 2015,) Visage scored their biggest hit, "Fade to Grey," as a single from their self-titled, 1980 debut. "Fade to Grey" was an international hit, a #1 in both Germany and Switzerland, and Top 10 (#8) in the UK. (Fun fact: then-future Ultravox vocalist Midge Ure performed background vocals on "Fade to Grey.") "Fade to Grey" is not quirky, as was the case with a lot of 80's synth-pop, rather, it's smooth and sophisticated, and, judging by the video, rather glamorous. A perfect #10.

Now you're talkin' my language! There is a dreamy quality to his singing and song. The glamour aspect comes from a many of those bands were glam as opposed to punk.

You should do one too! I'd bet we'd come up with a heck of a list!

A new series! yay! I don`t recall this one but then again I was only around 15 years old back then. Hmm, I think I am getting old.

I was going to use a different synth-pop song for something else when it occurred to me that I could do a series.
