Day 58 Psalm 58 Psalm 58:1 < Do ye indeed speak righteousness, O congregation? Do ye judge uprightly, O ye sons of men? 2 Yea, in heart ye work wickedness; ye weigh the violence of your hands in the earth. 3 The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies. 4 Their poison is like the poison of a serpent: they are like the deaf adder that stops her ear; 5 Which will not hearken to the voice of charmers, charming never so wisely. 6 Break their teeth, O God, in their mouth: break out the great teeth of the young lions, O LORD. 7 Let them melt away as waters which run continually: when he bends his bow to shoot his arrows, let them be as cut in pieces. 8 As a snail which melts, let every one of them pass away: like the untimely birth of a woman, that they may not see the sun. 9 Before your pots can feel the thorns, he shall take them away as with a whirlwind, both living, and in his wrath. 10 The righteous shall rejoice when he sees the vengeance: he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked. 11 So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous: verily he is a God that judges in the earth. You’ve heard the term: Born liars. You’ve also met people who cannot speak the truth. Everything they say and do is a lie. David knew such people as well. He showed their character and wanted God to take care of them. He was tired of dealing with them on a daily basis. Yet David also knew God does not tolerate any kind of sin. Liars and those who practice all forms of evil will not enter eternal life, but have their place in the Lake of Fire and Brimstone. Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. Solomon also showed liars are among the seven things God hates and finds abominable. Proverbs 6:12 A naughty person, a wicked man, walks with a froward mouth. 13 He winks with his eyes, he speaks with his feet, he teaches with his fingers; 14 Frowardness is in his heart, he devises mischief continually; he sows discord. 15 Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy. 16 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: 17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18 An heart that devises wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, 19 A false witness that speaks lies, and he that sows discord among brethren. As Christians, we are told to put away wickedness from our hearts and be renewed. 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (KJV) Romans 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. (KJV) Ephesians 4:20 But ye have not so learned Christ; 21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. (KJV) Colossians 3:8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. 9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; 10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: 11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all. (KJV) We all have an old man that must be destroyed. We all need to get rid of those things which hinder our walk with God, and we must all put on the new man so we might live our lives holy unto God and Jesus Christ our Savior. It isn’t easy to change our ways, but when we take the first step, accepting Jesus as Savior and Lord, it becomes easier. Every day we need to confess our sin, and be renewed in our minds and hearts so that one day it will only be the new man living in us and the old man will be completely destroyed. Titus 3:4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Savior toward man appeared, 5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; 6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior; 7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. Let the Holy Spirit renew your mind and heart so that you will not end up in the Lake of Fire and Brimstone when God comes to judge the earth. Let’s pray: Father, renew my mind and heart daily. Take anything that does not edify you out of my life and let me walk holy and blameless in your sight. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
