Houston Astros promote catcher Evan Gattis from the minor leagues

Jake Kaplan of the Houston Chronicle reported the news on Monday the Houston Astros will make a roster change by designating for assignment catcher Erik Kratz on Tuesday. Kratz had a batting average of .069 in 15 games played for the Astros in 2016. Kratz will be replaced by catcher and designated hitter Evan Gattis who was playing baseball as a designated hitter for the Corpus Christi Hooks which is the AA minor league team of the Houston Astros on a rehabilitation assignment since May 6, 2015. Houston Astros manager A J Finch will have Jason Castro as his starting catcher on Tuesday when the Chicago White Sox host the Houston Astros in a three game series. Gattis was sent to the Hooks to brush up on his defensive skills as the catcher of the Astros ten days ago.
