My friend doesn´t understand diabetes.

Every Tuesday, I have a couple for tea. They are a lovely couple and I have been on vacations with them twice to Cancún.
Everything would be perfect except because my male friend is stubborn. He has diabetes and both his wife and I explain to him that he should not have jam on his bread. Yet even if there are all sorts of delicious things to eat, he will only have bread with jam.
He explains to us that he is ok as he is taking the pills that manage the problem.
And when a person with a university degree says something like that, You only want to spank him on the butt. Except that he is 80 years old.
So I accept it. He is of age.
I hope the picture shows: my friends

@Jdaw1985 Nope. He says he doesn´t have diabetes because when the doctors check it once in a while after taking his pills, he has it almost under control.

@marguicha Honestly, when someone is 80, they probably feel that they don't have that much longer to live, they might as well enjoy what they have...

He doesn´t like low sugar jam. I have tried Stevia and other sugar substitutes and he feels I´m cheating.

Maybe he would like bread, baked with almond flour or coconut flour.. I am sure that you, marguicha know how to bake something like that
That would diminish the Glycemic Index in his meal..

@marguicha Would he like honey, instegade of sugar? He might need some good bacteria, like the ones in sauerkraut or other fermented veggies..?? He could get rid of sugar cravings that way.. A. Vogel has Molkosan with good bacteria and it could be mixed with some juice.. Well, the thing is to get him to drink it

He does drink his tea with a sugar substitute. And then he eats all the jam.

Oh dear..so sorry he will not listen to reason.
Yes he thinks it is fine even because he is taking the pill for it.
I hope that I would not eat too much jam also..I feel fortunate so far not to have that terrible disease..diabetes.
