For #8 in my Top 10 Favorite James Bond Themes series, we head back to 1999 for the 19th James Bond film, The World is Not Enough.
Garbage performed the dramatically-orchestrated title theme song, the style of which is easily identifiable as a Bond theme, not so much, other than Shirley Manson's vocals, as a Garbage song.
The tune was an international hit, charting in 16 countries, including #1 in Iceland, although it apparently was a dud here in the States. I can find no evidence that the song ever hit any of the Billboard charts (All Music Guide/Wikipedia,) which is a little odd considering that Garbage was a bit of a hit machine during that time period.
While "The World is Not Enough" is not a Bond classic (in fact, I flipped a coin when it came to numbers 8 and 9,) it's a solid, opening credits-worthy tune.
Plus, I just like listening to Garbage.

It's a great song, but not as memorable as some of the theme's coming up.

I couldn't help but think how much it reminded me of a Cardigans song. But that is a weird opening title sequence.

I had forgotten Garbage had done a Bond. I tend to disregard the Pierce Brosnan ones.
