Buttermilk is made out of Curd. By constant churning of Curd adding water little by little one will get the buttermilk of desired concentration.
Though both are the products from milk only, just adding water to curd while churning brings a change in the contents of Buttermilk? Yes, there are some characters and change in contents that take place when a Curd is churned and made into a buttermilk.
The Churning actually gives additional properties to the buttermilk. It actually makes the proteins in the buttermilk easily digestible.
A 100 gm of buttermilk contains 39% of Calories. So if you want to have a diet less in calories and wants to reduce your weight it is always suggested to add buttermilk to your diet.
Buttermilk will have more fluid. So, it can be consumed comfortably during hot weather and summer as a substitute for other drinks. It actually reduces dehydration.
Buttermilk is rich in calcium, zinc, potassium, Vitamin B12, and proteins. It reduces bad cholesterol and helps in keeping the bones healthy.
