#7 in my Top 10 Favorite 80's Synth-Pop Songs series returns to England for three-time Brit Award-winning Pet Shop Boys.
Pet Shop Boys are a synth-pop duo consisting of vocalist-keyboardist Neil Tennant and keyboardist Chris Lowe, formed in 1981.
(Fun Fact: Tennant served time as a music journalist. A quote from his review of "Blasphemous Rumours" appears in the liner notes of the compilation Catching Up with Depeche Mode. "He called the song a "slab of gloom.")
My favorite Pet Shop Boys tune is "Two Divided by Zero," from their 1986 debut album Please. It was not released as a single, not even as a B-side.
It's a case of "the hits aren't the only good songs on the album." "Two Divided by Zero" is a great non-hit, from a really strong record with four of them.

You're welcome. They are still going strong all these decades later.

"West End Girls" is their big hit. You might recognise it if you heard it.
