I gave my brother a power of attorney.

Today, as I was peacefully taking my nap, my brother called me. He wanted us to go somewhere (I don´t know the name in English) where I accept, by signing, that he represents me while selling my mother´s house. He will sell it, divide the money taking away the expenses and then will divide it between my siblings and I. I don´t know how much I will receive and what I will do with my inheritance and as I am acostumed to live by my means, I don´t even want to think about it. Do you have to do such things in your country when there´s something left after your parents die?

My parents are only going to leave some debts that my brothers and I will have to pay. The properties that I own are going to be sold before I die, so I won´t leave any quarrels among my family members

I hope there will be no quarrel among us. At least, I will accept whatever my siblings see fit.

@marguicha That´s what I would do. It´s very difficult to be dealing with inheritance benefits. Me and my brothers are not looking for those benefits. It´s easier for us to give all to the needy or to an animal institution and avoid the bad feelings.

@quantum2020 There will be enough to help all of us out. I will get enough to buy a very small apartment that I can rent.

We call it an inheritance. My dear mother has nothing to leave when she passes. She does have her personal belongings though. My brother is in charge of them.

@marguicha If I had a house to give, I would leave it to my children as well.

@ElusiveButterfly In my country the law says that if you have children, you have to leave what you have to them. There are ways to bypass the law, but that is not the idea.

Yes and after legal fees and bills to be paid there may not be a whole lot left. I have made my son the executor of my estate if there is any estate but I do have all my affairs in order which we should all do.

In my country, there are less things to pay if the money is going to the chidren and the remaining spouse if there is one.

from what I understand, if there is no will then the state gets the property to sell andn settle debts with. I really should know mire about it than I do.

My sister has power of attorney over my parents estate. Now that my parents have both passed, she's got that headache to deal with.

@just4him He would be very worried thinking that either my sister or myself would do something wrong

I don´t envy my brother for what he has done since my mother passed. But he likes to be in charge.

Unfortunately, my sister passed away before my mother so I never had to go through any of that. I hope it all works out well for all of you.

@CRK109 In my country, there is no will such as that. People can add something to one of the heirs but they cannot leave out any of their kin.

@marguicha it's the same here. When my mother passed away, she left a will in which everything came to me. If not for the will, everything would have been split between me and my sister's children.

There is even a way of sharing between the children. But I will not question what my siblings do.
