#6 on my Top 10 Favorite James Bond Theme Songs series takes us to 1985 for the 14th Bond film, A View to a Kill.
English band Duran Duran did the opening theme honors, and they made quite the hit with "A View to a Kill."
And what a smash it was. According to Wikipedia, "A View to a Kill" is the only Bond theme to hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Throw in #2 in the UK, and Top 10 in every country in which it charted (except for France, where it peaked at #11,) and the Fab Five had a bona fide hit on their hands.
In fact, their title song was, in my opinion, the best thing about A View to a Kill, my least favorite of all the Bond films. Roger Moore was entirely too old for the role, and the film itself was corny, weak, and simply awful.
"A View to a Kill," however, was energetic and worked quite well with the opening credits sequence. Too bad it all went downhill fast after.
"A View to a Kill" is a great Bond theme that really deserved a better movie.

Yeah, too bad it had an 80-year-old Roger Moore playing Bond!

@teamfreak16 Roger tells this story of Tania's mother visiting the set on the day of the bedroom scene. After filming they were chatting and he found out that he was older than her mother and decided not to do another Bond.

This is easily one of the most forgettable Bond films. Running around Frisco with a villainous Grace Jones. You would have thought Christopher Walken would have been a great Bond villain. The only plus was Tanya Roberts.
This may sound shocking but I never cared for DD and thought them overrated. I never liked this Bond song.

I'm still a fan. Of Duran Duran, not this awful Bond flick. But I do understand when people tell me they don't like them.

Love your critique of the movie. The song? Not so much. Maybe I just heard way too much Duran Duran in the 80s.

I'm still a big Duran Duran fan, believe it or not. I really do think this is one of their best songs ("New Religion" being my favorite.) As for the movie, Yuck.
