#6 on my Top 10 Favorite James Bond Theme Songs series takes us to 1985 for the 14th Bond film, A View to a Kill. English band Duran Duran did the opening theme honors, and they made quite the hit with "A View to a Kill." And what a smash it was. According to Wikipedia, "A View to a Kill" is the only Bond theme to hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Throw in #2 in the UK, and Top 10 in every country in which it charted (except for France, where it peaked at #11,) and the Fab Five had a bona fide hit on their hands. In fact, their title song was, in my opinion, the best thing about A View to a Kill, my least favorite of all the Bond films. Roger Moore was entirely too old for the role, and the film itself was corny, weak, and simply awful. "A View to a Kill," however, was energetic and worked quite well with the opening credits sequence. Too bad it all went downhill fast after. "A View to a Kill" is a great Bond theme that really deserved a better movie.
