Who is a greater actress Smita Patil or Shabana Azmi? / myLot

Smita Patil and Shabana Azmi with their great acting helped the parallel film directors like Shyam Benegal, Satyajit Ray, Govind Nihalini and others in landmark films. Smita Patil was sublime in films like Mirch Masala, Manthan, Bhumika, to name a few. Shabana Azmi was outstanding in Masoom, Aarth, Paar, to name a few. Smita Patil did well in commercial films also like Shakti, Namakhalal. Shabana Azmi did well in commercial films like Amar Akbar Anthony, Parvarish, etc. Many newcomers learned acting from both Shabana Azmi and Smita Patil.

Shaban Azmi has a greater career span than Smita Patil, hence it would be tough to compare, but undoubtedly, Smita patil was most beautiful actress of her times, specially for people who like dusky colour.
