Can’t Answer Audiences Questions At The End of Presentation: What Can You Do?

There are times we cannot answer the audiences’ questions at the end of presentation. It seems that we are mentally blocked or overwhelmed before, during and after the presentation. The question is, “How are you going to deal with it?” If I will be the presenter, it is most likely that I will apologize and move on to the next question. Then, I will get back to the question later. If you are going to choose, what would be your possible course of action? 1. Answer the question based on your experience or knowledge. 2. Ask someone to answer it. 3. Inform them that you don’t have the answer at that point of time.

I think it depends on the topic of the presentation.

@skynap I guess if it is out of the topic, then the host should have time to find the answer.

I think i'm gonna combine 3 of them. First i'm gonna inform that i didn't have precise experience with them (3), however i may have quite similar situations and shared what i had done to deal with that problems (1), then if it's an two way communications style of presentations, i will ask audiences if there are some of them in the similar situations, and may they share their experience (2).

@haraka That's a good thing. There is no limitation in answering the questions. It can a combination of these options.

if I need to choose from that three, I choose the number one. Never let someone answer unless they ask for it, it will affect your credibility, and so with the number 3.

@ilocosboy That's a good answer. It is not also fine to answer things up if not familiar with the question being asked.
