Whose Fault Is The Financial Corruption of College Sports

I caught the last few minutes of the 1994 movie Blue Chip about a college basketball coach who tried not to use the corrupt recruiting tricks other college coaches use to lure top high school players, but after two losing seasons and pressure from the alumni and administration gave in and "bribed" top recruits with cars, trips, and money. At the end of the movie, Nick Nolte, who played the coach, goes an a diatribe against the influence of money on college sports. This was in 1994. My question is, whose fault is it that money has so corrupted college sports that the integrity of all college sports must be called into question?

Blue Chips was a good movie. Tough question to answer. The money is so massive that you can point your finger at college administrators, alumni, the wealthy supporters, NCAA, ESPN and sports TV, etc. It's a collective corruption representing the era we live in.

The coach's speech there at the end certainly seemed to say there was enough blame to go around. And now, it has been learned that these big Div 1 athletic programs are not truly money makers for any but the very top few schools. All the rest are having to raise fees and tuition to support these bloated athletic circuses.

The Presidents and CEOs of Sports get corrupted by the allure of as much cash as possible.
