Car Woes Me Again

My vehicle has been acting up lately. It will stall without notice. Usually I can drop it into neutral and start it again. Of course this isn't easy when trying to bring the vehicle to a stop without power brakes. And forget about steering, there is none when it stalls. Several times this past week the darn thing stalled on me. I kept hoping it wouldn't happen in a busy area. Today I was driving into town, going about 50mph when I noticed the car starting to slow down and I didn't have the brake on. I was still applying the gas. Then of course it stalled. I pulled over to the side of the road, dropped it into neutral and nothing happened. After a few tries I noticed that it had started, but wasn't getting gas when I pushed the gas pedal. I tried to call my husband several times, but got no answer. So I sat there for about 10 minutes and sulked. Then turned the key and lo and behold it started. The check engine light came on, but it stayed running. I called my sister to let her know that I wouldn't be coming to town and why. She naturally worried about my getting home safely. I told her I would call her as soon as I got home. Once home I went off on a rant and flung out quite a few f=bombs and other colorful language. That is how I roll when extremely upset. My husband said it was probably the fuel filter and proceeded to look up a tutorial on Youtube. He left for town to get the filter. I called my sister and we were on the phone quite a while, complaining to one another about this and that. We both decided it was okay because we could attend to the housework that we both had put off during the week. Hubby went to work right away on changing the fuel filter. He just now finished it and is changing the blades on the riding lawn mower so he can cut the grass. Then hopefully, we will finally get to go do some fishing. He better be quick with the mowing as we are supposed to get some rain. It is always something.

Such a hassle you had to deal with. I have ideas about cars too if they die on me. Hahaha I'm new here in mylot, but your name is quite interesting thats why I decided to check some of your discussions. :)

I'm sorry, car issues are horrible. I hope everything will be okay with it now that your husband changed the fuel filter. Have fun fishing if you get to go too! =)

He has promised that we will go fishing. As long as the rain stays away there is hope we will go.

You are lucky to have a husband who can fix the car - if anything like that happens to me I have to take it to the garage, and that can be very expensive.

He can fix many things that go wrong with it. Major stuff needs to be done at a garage.

I hope the filter did the trick and you won't have anymore trouble with the car.

He took it out for a road test and said it should be fine. I hope he is right.

I have no luck with cars. This is why I always buy or lease new. Yes, it means a monthly payment. But, if there's an issue, I make the dealer live up to the terms of their warranty.

I can't wait for this vehicle to be paid off. We are finally down to one payment.
