Console or PC?

I spend a good deal of time playing video games. I have dedicated a lot of my time to a PC game called Dota 2. I've been looking over my stats and realized just how much time I put into this video game. I have spent nearly 800 hours of my time on this game alone. Granted, I haven't played in a long time, but that is a lot of time going into different matches. PC is my go-to when it comes to gaming. I love my PC and can't imagine trading it in for a console- though, many people argue that consoles might be a better choice. I suppose I'm just wondering why people choose console over PC. I've heard so many reasons behind choosing PC over Console, but never any reasons as to why someone chooses console over PC. What do you prefer and why?

I have only played video games using my laptop, I rarely have used vieo game consoles. I think I used one once. This was my little brother´s Xbox console. Their portability is probably why people prefere video consoles and also that they can be plugged to a big screen for playing.

I am the same way. All of my gaming is done on my laptop and I honestly can't think of anything better. Console handhelds are portable, but I tend to bring my laptop everywhere I go (within reason.) I will bring it with me on trips, etc. It's just as easy to bring with me. I could see how a console handheld might be good for every day use, though. I won't haul my laptop with me to walmart, but someone could totally bring their PS Vita with them, ha ha.

@lexinonomous Yes, I woudn´t mind someone letting me use their PS Vita. I think, Play stations and other consoles are right for playing more powerful games than the ones one can play on a pc. The memory and lother technical configuratons must take the player to the other estreme.

@quantum2020 My PC does a really great job at playing through high quality games. I just wish that the exclusives for Playstation were available to PC users. It makes sense though, since everything has it's own exclusives. I wouldn't mind using a PS Vita to try it out. On the go gaming might be a good thing to have, though I really don't mind hauling my laptop with me.

I don't play many video games anymore, but when I was more active I preferred the console games.

@lexinonomous Probably because it allowed more people to play at once. My family would play many of the games together.

@DWDavis That's something I never thought about! In order to play with multiple people in person, you have to be on separate computers all at once. I could see how a console is more family and friend oriented. That's actually a really awesome reason to prefer consoles!

If you don't mind me asking, why did you prefer the console over PC? :)

We haven't had a console of any kind in our house for a long time. I think nowadays I prefer PC.

I can't say that I blame you. I have a Ps3 in my garage right now. Once I fixed my PC, I instantly unplugged my Ps3. It had become somewhat of a "Netflix machine" to me. I only used it to watch Netflix on the television.

I used to be all about console gaming but I think it was mainly because I had a pc that couldn't handle any decent games. I recently upgraded to a better pc that could handle the Oculus Rift and now I'm completely obsessed with pc gaming. lol I've heard of Dota 2 but haven't tried it out yet. I may have to look into it! lol

@lexinonomous I am on Steam actually! I just looked up Dota 2 and I seem to already have it. lol That's probably why I've heard of it. I must have downloaded it and just haven't tried it out yet. I've been pretty focused on getting through the Tomb Raider games again. LOVE those. :-)

@missjessicadawn Thats awesome! Well, if you're every looking for someone to play with, feel free to add me. My screen name is Lexithesalsashark. Dota 2 is really complicated when you first get into it, but with time it becomes really fun. I haven't jumped onto the game in some time, though. :)

Having a PC that cannot handle decent games is an excellent reason to go to console. I was in this situation a few years ago when my PC decided to "catch a cold." By catch a cold, I mean it became infected with a virus. I was running for my Ps3 in no time. Are you a member on Steam by chance? They have so many amazing free games, alongside a great selection of paid gaming. I'd definitely suggest looking into Dota 2. It's a great tower defense game.

@lexinonomous It's been maybe 3 years since I had a desktop and now back in the UK I've been thinking of getting one, but just not yet, though.

@kevin1877uk I would love to get a desktop, but I just don't see the need to at the moment. I'm pretty content with my laptop. I think it's been about 10 or more years since I had a desktop.

I don't play games anymore, ever since I found out online and earning money - it's fun and therapeutic especially myLot. Fun to me would have to be shopping. I used to enjoy playing console games and games via my phone.

@lexinonomous The last site I found out about is now discontinued (BlogJob). There is a new one called Literacy Base but I have not been active so I don't know yet. I know of a member on myLot said she reached $10 in 15 days but she has not been paid yet, it'll be next month. I just use myLot and Crowdtap. There are other survey sites but I stopped that. And I sell on Poshmark (pre-loved clothes or clothes with tags as I tend to overshop)

I find making money online therapeutic as well. I really enjoy talking on forums because it gives me an outlet to talk to likeminded people. It helps me with my writing and grammar as well. If you don't mind me asking, what other websites have you found to earn money? I only just discovered mylot and use postloop regularly.

@infatuatedbby Thank you for sharing. I signed up for Crowdtap. I hope it works out for me. I'm not familiar with Poshmark, but it might be worth visiting the website since I have a huge shopping problem.

@bacon147 True! I was just curious as to why people prefer consoles. There's always different reasons, but it's interesting to me to hear the reasoning behind it. :)

I am definitely sticking to my PC. I'm just curious as to why people would even argue that console is better. Personally, I don't really mind what people use, but I still don't understand not making the switch to PC. There are so many options in comparison.

Game console. I never was good at games by PC. But put a game controller in my hand I would punish. That should be by next tag name when I get a ps4.lol

@lexinonomous but there are controllers you can buy to play with PC games.

I can totally understand having a hard time with a mouse and keyboard versus a controller. There are a few games that I own that I had to give up on due to not being able to calibrate everything correctly. I definitely prefer a controller at times.

I prefer a console to be honest. Consoles guarantee that the game will work and run smoothly with full graphics. I know that you can get better graphics on a PC, but sometimes our PC's performance aren't good enough to run a new game like Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 on full graphics. This has happened to me before with another game. Another reason is that I'm used to consoles and not PC's.

I have had the opposite effect with a console, sadly. My Ps3 has spit out games left and right and doesn't run nearly as smoothly as my PC. I suppose it all depends on how old something is. A PC works the same way, sometimes not being able to run games due to being outdated. I remember being super used to consoles and a PC seemed so foreign to me- at least for gaming. I have neeeever had an issue running a video game with full graphics, though. If anything my computer has always ran brand new games smoothly.

I'm very used to consoles and there was a time when I didn't play PC games for about 2 years. I remember playing on a PC one time after I got so used to console and I was horrible at it(I played Battlefield).

I don't play video games a lot, but I do have a Nintendo Wii. I'm guessing that the feeling of playing on a console is different, that's why some people prefer it over a computer? Personally, I don't like to play games on my computer because it was pretty slow.
