Do all cats sleep most of the time?

We have a cat that seems to sleep most of the time. I will get up in the morning with the cat laying just above my head and when I get back from wherever I was the day, he will be at the same place. The only time he really gets up is to eat and do his business outside. Sometimes he'll try to catch a bird or something, but that's very rare. Are all cats the same? Does gender make a difference in their behaviour? We have a male cat.

my friends cat doesn't sleep that much ...and wouldn't let her sleep too Shes way active for a cat...i guess maybe because she grew up with dogs around

I think we all like our safe spots. Contrary to what our leaders try to tell us. lol

Passive cats sleep the most. there are some active cats who sleep at night and spend day time chasing things or exploring neighborhood. It all depends on the type of cat it is.

@skysnap I remember we had a cat before this one and he was a lot less at home. Our cat is also neutered and I think that also plays a role? I'm not completely sure though.

@bacon147 neutered one go passive. keeping them upto nature makes them on routine of nature.

Cats love to sleep. It's their hobby.

My Rose the cat is also a hunter. I randomly see her sleep during the day.
