My wife and I did our monthly Costco run yesterday afternoon and, while looking at the meat section, saw Premio Bratwurst.
The idea of purchasing fresh bratwurst isn't something new to me. After all, I live in Wisconsin and you can pretty much find fresh brats anywhere. However, I was intrigued by the price, $13.99 for 5 pounds, because it was considerably less than I'm used to spending. So, we decided to pick them up.
I put most of the brats in the freezer when we got home but left 5 of them out for dinner last night. After trying them, I have to say I was honestly much more impressed with them than I was expecting.
For one, they didn't seem to be as fatty as many other brats we've purchased. Instead, there was actually quite a bit of meat in them rather than just filler.
I also liked the taste of these brats. They had a sausage-like taste with a good blend of seasonings and weren't bland like some other brands we've purchased recently.
Probably my only complaint about these brats was the skin. It was pretty tough and a little hard to chew as a result. My wife and I managed to make it through our brats OK. But, our daughter did have problems chewing the one we gave her.
Overall though, I thought this was a good purchase and it is definitely a brand I would consider buying again.

We just started shopping there this year. It's a drive for us, about 30 minutes each way, but we do save enough money to justify both the membership and gas money. I saved enough on my first shopping trip to pay for the membership.
