I wonder if it really matters if I get an oil change the day I get my car inspected?

I want to go ahead with the car's inspection sometime within a week or two. I already got the air filter replaced and had a vacuum line fixed. I also had the Positive Crank Case Ventilation Valve replaced aka Pollution Control Valve or PCV valve. I know it's been a while since the last time we got the oil changed. I also bought a new fuel filter so why not just get the oil changed on the day I get the inspection? Or does it matter that much with the smog test?

If it's been a good while since you changed the oil, I think you should go ahead and have that done. Oil breaks down over time and stops being effective. I know how much effort you've put into keeping that car going and I'd hate for an major problem to arise because the oil viscosity had diminished too far.
