Why did they Kill The Electric Car?

I watched a movie documentary about the electric car that went from being in production to being recalled and sent through a shredder.
America, it's time to wake up. We already had the electric car and now it's time to get it back. The electric car saves the environment. Bottom line and it costs less money to maintain.
There are cars that are hybrid and run on both electricity at times and run on gasoline at other times but they are just glorified gas guzzlers any way.
The peddle power human powered car:
or solar powered or hydrogen powered vehicles or vehicles with sails or solar panels on them. There are too many alternatives to the gas guzzler of the 20th Century. It's about time we moved forward with alternative forms of personal human transportation.
ASME Human Powered Vehicle Challenge (HPVC) provides opportunity for students to work in teams to design and build highly engineered vehicles.

Electric cars are as old than gas cars, but their main problem is that they have a very low autonomy making them interesting only for short travels. Second, telling that they are "green" or that they "save the environment" is not true : the batteries are a toxic waste needed to be replaced every 3 years and difficult to recycle. And, to be "green" they need to use a "green" electricity, otherwise they are a source of pollution for the atmosphere more important than a gas car : each time you transform a source of energy into another source, a part of the first source is lost during the conversion process. Yes, they do not pollute around them, but the problem is displaced in another location, and it is not because you do not see it that it is not real : an electric car using electricity produced by a fossil fuel, is indirectly polluting the global atmosphere more than a car using directly this fossil fuel, because more fossil fuel has been needed to do the same travel with the electric car than with the other one. The conversion rate of gas to electricity is only 38%, so even if an electric motor has better performances than a gas motor, it is not a good idea to use an electric car to "save the environment" and you can understand easily that if everybody was using electric cars, we would need to produce a lot more energy to run them... and pollute more.

I know that it was given a social stigma as being a sissy car but that is just a stigma. Not a fact.

People should not be so lazy and try using the most natural form of human transportation more often: your legs!

I know it. Even a stand alone peddler for the elderly like myself and the handicapped can use their peddler every day to get their legs in ship shape. Walking, ever heard about this new form of transportation? And the bicycle, how come it took building one of these has led the world to flying inter continental?

I think more emphasis on public transportation should be the norm. In places where they carry people around in the back behind a 3 wheel bike or in a buggy drawn by a mule or a horse, these and other types of transportation are much more suited to large city populations as the roads are smooth and you can practically ride a skate board om them.
