What will you do if a professional begger come to you and ask for some cash for a coffee ?

I still remember that while I was still in Canada, I was waiting for a bus at the bus stop. A man dressed like a poor man approach everyone on the other side of the street and ask everyone who was standing there to catch the bus for to give him some money. Some would give it to him but some wouldn't do it.Then he came to me and said to same words as he did to everyone : "Can you spare a quarter for me for a coffee ?" . I was only a student at that time and didn't feel comfortable to give to this professional begger especially i am afraid that he would use those money on drugs or alcohol as well. I just automatically responds and said : " Can you spare $5 dollars for me for a movie ?" The guy was so unexpected and walk away with big laughter. What would you do if you have such an experience ?
