ESPN.com's Marc Stein reported the news on Wednesday the Houston Rockets have interviewed for a second time former Orlando Magic interim coach James Borrego to succeed J. B. Bickerstaff as the next coach of the Houston Rockets. Rockets owner Les Alexander interviewed Borrego who is currently an assistant coach under Gregg Popovich of the San Antonio Spurs. Borrego succeeded Jacque Vaughn as the coach of the Orlando Magic on February 5, 2015 as the interim coach of the team leading them to a record of 10-20. Borrego was hired by the Spurs to work as an assistant coach under Popovich on June 18, 2016. Borrego was a coaching candidate with the Memphis Grizzlies but it appears the Grizzlies will hire David Fizdale to coach their team in 2016. It remains to be seen who will be the next coach of the Rockets before the start of the 2016-17 basketball season.

Me too. The Rockets are the closest team in the Lake Charles market next to the New Orleans Pelicans.

The Rockets are a mess. They interviewed Kenny Smith. Borrego is a hot contender because Pop's assistants are in demand.

His coaching record with the Magic was nothing to write home about. Look what happened to many NFL teams that hired foremr New England Patriots coaching assistants under Bill Belicheck. No Super Bowl wins.
