Do you think Ray Charles was a good singer? Do you think he could have put as much soul in his music if he were not blind, or if he didn't have a drug addiction (heroin), which put pain in his life?Have you seen the movie Ray with Jamie Foxx? I cried, I won't spoil it for you, but it's got some sad parts.

I think Ray Charles was an excellent singer. I honestly don't think he could have put that much soul into his music if he didn't have all the problems. I mean, think about it - how much emotion can you put into singing about something if it never happened to you? Most good soul or blues music comes out of pain or suffering. I have seen the movie Ray and I think that Jamie Foxx did a stellar job portraying Ray Charles.
