#9 in my Favorite Punk Songs series takes us to Sacramento, the 1976 birthplace of The Cramps. The Cramps were a punk/psychobilly band led by vocalist Lux Interior and wife Poison Ivy (guitar/bass,) the band's only constants. The Cramps called it quits in 2009 after the death of Interior. "Bikini Girls with Machine Guns" was released as a single from the 1990 album Stay Sick (produced by Poison Ivy.) Charting at #35 in the UK, it was the band's only British hit, while it reached #10 on Billboard's Modern Rock chart, helped by exposure on MTV's Sunday night alternative music show, 120 Minutes. "Bikini Girls with Machine Guns" is a fun listen (the video is even more fun,) capturing The Cramps in all their glory. R.I.P. Lux.

The Cramps, in my friend Barry Mazor's book Meeting Jimmie Rodgers due to the fact that they covered "Mule Skinner Blues" in 1989.

Did you ever see the video of them playing a gig at the State Mental Hospital in California? It's pretty cool.

The Cramps are one of the major punk bands for those not familiar with the scene. I think the title says it all about its awesomeness.

Killer, the lyrics are awesome on that one. I might have a band you might like. I will do it tomorrow because kind tired right now. You might have heard of them anyway. I like their old stuff which is punk/ /psychobilly. Their new stuff is so different than what they sounded like when they first came out. I have heard of bands evolving, but that is ridiculous. Still fits the band perfectly.
