Struggle of Lines

I tend to draw a lot on my free time (which is all the time), and despite how hard I try, my "straight" lines always come out crooked or deformed or looking like someone tried to draw a hula hoop instead :/
I guess that's kind of normal to not have naturally straight lines, but my lines even come out wrong with a ruler. A ruler.
So, not only do I suck at drawing hands, but lines are also a no-go. Everything else's OK though.
So, do you struggle with drawing anything specific? And are lines in general hard for you too?

I'm good with straight lines as long as i'm not drunk, and with a ruler, it's perfect.
You sure you're using the right kind of pen or pencil?
Or maybe the ruler you're using is crooked as well?

Maybe it's my rulers that's sabotaging my lines... I'm sure my pencils are not against me!

I love computer drawing too, but I always end up using good ol' pen and paper due to not having a good drawing tablet :/
But using a computer makes me feel better about my lines and shading due to the easy editing!

@GameAddict When I draw I use my mouse. But then again I'm not very good at it, and don't do it often. Mostly I take photos and edit those instead.

@GameAddict correct. Measuring first before drawing lines is a technique that could really help you.

Maybe I should try your methods for perfect lines. It'll really help me with getting perfect borders!
