The Associated Press reported the news on Saturday the Atlanta Braves have placed their shortstop Erick Aybar, 32, on the 15 day disabled list with a bruise on his right foot.
Aybar, was injured on Friday when Miami Marlins pitcher Adam Conley hit Aybar with a pitched ball on his right foot in the fifth inning of the Braves 4-2 win over the Marlins.
The Braves have called up from their AAA minor league team the Gwinnet Braves right handed pitcher Aaron Blair to replace Aybar on their 25 man roster.
Daniel Castro will be the Braves starting shortstop while Aybar recovers from his foot injury which should heal within two weeks. The Braves do not want to have Aybar playing in any baseball games with a bruise on his foot which could send him to the sidelines for a longer period of time if he re-injures his foot.
Aybar who played for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim from 2006-2015 was traded to the Braves by the Angels on November 12, 2015 along with left handed pitcher Sean Newcomb, right handed pitcher Chris Ellis and cash in exchange for Braves shortstop Andrelton Simmons and catcher Jose Briceno.
Aybar is eligible to become a free agent at the end of the 2016 baseball season. Do not be surprised if he traded to a team that in playoff contention before the Major League Baseball deadline of July 31, 2016 since the Braves are not expected to be playoff contenders this year.

Aybar has been experiencing the worst season of his career so the Braves aren't missing much.

The Braves farewell tour of Turner Field is sour this year.
