Our annual Race into Summer Festival is being held at the park up the street from us and, as we have done since my oldest daughter was only a year or two old, we're going to go up the street and stand in line to get our free t-shirt from the event. It's something we look forward to doing every year and haven't missed doing it since the event first started, despite the fact the festival itself really isn't as good as it used to be. It used to be more of a family event. Now the family portion lasts only about an hour or two then it becomes geared more toward adults. That's why we don't typically stay that long after getting the t-shirts.

It's nice that you have a family tradition that goes back so many years. Too bad the festival seems to have left out the children in these later years.

I think the issue they have is sponsorship. Back when it started, there were a lot more family-oriented businesses that were willing to participate. Now, the only group that does anything kid related is the 4H Club.

That sounds adventurous.I remember recently when I had attended a military camp we were made to run a lot during the mornings.I used to love that. Do you love and enjoy all this with your family?

Now that the kids are older and understand why we do this, I do. When they were younger and much more impatient, it wasn't as fun.
