If it tastes good when it's raw, it's ten times better when it's cooked!

This is what I know about home made brownies. My wife is a great cook and when she makes cookies or brownies she always asks me if I want to lick the bowl. Well, I use a spoon instead. It would look a bit odd for me to just lick the bowl with my tongue like a puppy dog. But I tasted the batter she whipped up with the walnuts, marshmallows and fudge and I liked it. So when it comes out of the oven and has a chance to cool off a bit, I will really enjoy it even more. Do you get to lick the bowl after your wife or your mom whips up some chocolate cake or fudge brownie mix? I bet you are lucky to get to do this. Yummy!

I used to lick the bowl when my mother was baking and then when I had my own children they would argue over who got the bowl.

I bet they spoiled their appetites by licking the bowl. But then I am as guilty of it as anyone.

When my Mom was baking, we kids always fought to get a lick. We were 6 of us. Now I get to clean up the bowl and the spoon all by myself.

I remember such a time when I had to rush to the kitchen to be first in line for a beater.

One thing I always like to scrape the bowl and eat is "toll house" chocolate chip cookie dough! That is so tasty!

I always did when I was a kid but I wouldn't eat batter with raw egg any more.

Just don't think about it that way. However, if you have an egg allergy I quite understand. If you just don't like the thought of raw egg then that is perfectly understandable. I don't think I just lick and boy is it good. lol.

I love brownies! I did that for sure with my mother way back when. I miss those days.

Then you will likely enjoy trying it yourself. It is not my nature to cook but it is my luck to be married to a great cook, who first introduced her original home made buttermilk biscuits from scratch. If I were to make brownies I would probably use a Betty Crocker instant recipe in the box because I am not very experienced in baking from scratch. There is a certain satisfaction my wife gains from doing things the old school way.

@lookatdesktop I'm the same way. I'm not a baker.
